And saying the potentially profound profanity ‘F**k It’ can help us to get back into that flow.

As we enter Spring, the flow of nature is obvious: night follows day, season follows season, times of growth and blossoming are followed by times of quiet and hibernation.

There should be, too, a natural flow to our lives: times of activity should be followed by times of rest, and all the better if we can match this flow with that of nature (ie. taking it more easy in the winter and saving big active projects until the Spring / Summer).

Yet most of us ignore these natural rhythms: we tend to work too hard, stress too much, keep going when all the signs are telling us to slow down. Consequently, we become ill, exhausted, depressed, etc..

The Taoists talk about the flow between ‘yang’ and ‘yin’. Yang is active and energetic compared to the passive and resting yin. And the idea is that we should balance these yang and yin energies in our lives, ensuring that we follow activity with rest, and also that we follow rest with activity.

Saying ‘F**k It’ is very useful for helping us to get back into flow. And I see F**k It as both yang and yin.

If you are – as most of us are – addicted to activity, to ticking through the to-do lists, to working too hard, and making the absolute most of the free time too, then you’re very likely to be in need of some rest, some yin time. Yet it’s very hard to give up any of those things we’re addicted to. This is where yin F**k It comes in… saying F**k It and giving up on things that, in the end, aren’t so important and are doing us no good; saying F**k It and staying in bed occasionally; saying F**k It and cancelling those appointments and ignoring the to do list. Yin F**k It is about slowing down big-time in order to recharge… and it usually takes the power of the profane F**k It to help you to do this. ‘Oh, but I really must keep going, otherwise…  Well, F**k It, I need to rest, that’s what’s important’.

On the other hand, there are those of us who are lethargic and lacking vitality. It might be that we’re depressed, or lacking in self-confidence, but we lack that VIM that can get us out there, fighting for what we want in life. In this case yang F**k It is required: the ability to get out there and grab life, no matter what the risk. And the risks here are usually that you will fail; that you will make a fool of yourself and that people will criticize you. So, in these cases, we say a big yang F**k It, and we get on with what we really want to do, no matter what people will think of us, and to hell with the possibility of things going wrong (nothing ventured, nothing gained, after all).

So we can go in two different directions with F**k It:Â giving up and slowing down (yin) and grabbing life by the balls and getting on with it (yang).

But what if you’re unsure as to what you should do? What happens if you simply don’t know what you should do now, with your job, or your relationship? Well, the truth is that the ‘flow’ is very obvious if you listen hard enough. Most of us are so busy or anxious or exhausted that we are not able to hear the obvious messages that come to us every day. If we can slow down, calm down and simply listen to the messages, what we should do in every situation in our life becomes very obvious.

These messages come in many forms: messages from our bodies (in the form of exhaustion and illness), messages from the reality of situations (if something is really not working, then it’s usually best to stop persisting) and the messages of extraordinary coincidences, that seem to happen more and more when you start to listen carefully.

It’s as if life is a play put on just for us, and we simply hadn’t noticed before. The moment you realize that there are so many messages designed just for you, and that all you have to do is listen, your life has the potential to transform.

All you need then is the yin or yang F**k It to get you back into the flow, and your life certainly does transform.

All the best in this wonderful process.

John C. Parkin is the author of the bestselling ‘F**k It. The Ultimate Spiritual Way’ and founder of the retreat centre, The Hill That Breathes in Italy (where he and his wife run the famous ‘F**k It Weeks’).

Using no manipulation, diagnosis or remedies, this non-invasive and thoroughly holistc method uses biofeedback to bring the body gently back into its natural individual balance.

BodyTalk practitioner Caroline Nettle explains that during a session, the practitioner will use a simple yes/no response to discover areas of the body in need of balancing, and then address them according to the preferences indicated by the client’s body. This will usually involve little more than light tapping, the contacting of particular points and deep breathing.

Clients never cease to be amazed by the speed and accuracy of the system in pinpointing health difficulties and their causes. The length of the session varies depending on what is required on the day, but is usually between 30 minutes and an hour.

Being non-invasive and free of side-effecs, BodyTalk is suitable for absolutely anyone, from an unborn baby to the elderly. Because the system works from a perspective of absolute respect for the body’s ability to heal and repair itself, every session is tailormade to the individual and their body’s very specific needs. BodyTalk can help with a range of common health issues, such as back pain, stress, headaches, depression, digestive complaints, circulatory and hormonal imbalances, emotional and enrergetic imbalances and many more.

Caroline first discovered BodyTalk when taster sessions were offered in her former workplace. Impressed with how quickly and accurately the practitioner identified what was happening in her body, Caroline went on to have regular sessions which saw rapid and significant improvements in her own health. This in turn led Caroline to take a BodyTalk course in 2005, and start practicing in 2006.

Client Maria Henkes in Holland says:

“I had a couple of BodyTalk distance sessions by Caroline and I find it amazing what she does, she tells me things about my body that she couldn’t possible know and then tells the body to solve that and in the next days after the healing my body starts reacting and shifting and I actually start to feel a lot better”

A master NLP practitioner with a solid reputation as a life coach in his native Glasgow and beyond, Ali Campbell is the author of “Just Get On With It” (Hay House, 2010). Returning frequently to the idea that success is a combination of knowledge and hard work, Campbell encourages us to investigate and assess the answers we already hold within and then get on with applying them.

The book presents the journey Campbell would take you on if you were one of his (very few) private clients, and as we go through the various stages, Campbell is there to offer a “caring, compassionate kick up the ass” which, let’s be honest, is sometimes exactly what we need.

Anyone who can title a chapter “Are you a Duck on the M6?” has to have an interesting take on the world, and Campbell uses his Glaswegian humour to great effect, seamlessly managing to be playful and serious in all the right places. Using real-life stories from past clients, Campbell shows just how determined we can be to let our lives be shaped and defined by the stories we continue to tell ourselves, believe and act upon.

This book is packed with practical information - such as the fact that you can’t make a good decision if you’re stressed or rushed, but if you find a way to feel better, you can then think clearly and move past the problem. But Campbell doesn’t expect us to be superheros, and advocates giving things up that don’t increase our wellbeing, in order to create space for things that do.

“Just Get On With It” presents a hugely enjoyable, practical and effective process. My only (teeny tiny) gripe is that I came unstuck with the Emotional Health Audit in Chapter One. The idea is that you assess things that drain your energy against things that increase your energy (so far, so good), but Campbell presents energy inwards as a negative number, and energy out as a positive. That means that an overall negative number is a good thing. For me, a negative number is usually a not-so-good thing, so that makes it hard for me to see the exercise in the light it’s intended. I’d be interested to hear how other people interpret that section, and I certainly wouldn’t let it detract from the overall strength of Campbell’s work.

This is no holier-than-thou tome on how to be a better person. “Just Get On With It” has a refreshing voice in an arena often dominated by heavy weights from across the Atlantic. Sometimes American enthusiasm is just a bit too much for us self-deprecating Brits to really take in. No matter how good it sounds, some small voice gets away with the idea that they’re not really talking to us, are they? Ali Campbell most certainly is taking to us, making us laugh, and helping us get on with it.

Just Get On With It is published by Hay House at £8.99

Mevolution members can take advantage of a fabulous 25% discount (and free p&p) until 30th April at www.hayhouse.co.uk
